Chip pan fire leaves Essex man with burns to both arms

A man has been left with burns to his arms after throwing water over a chip pan fire. Essex Fire and Rescue Crews were called to a kitchen fire after a chip pan caught alight in Ashdown Way, Colchester, at 3.18pm today (Saturday, March 19) The man, aged in his 30s, received burns after throwing water onto the flaming hot oil.One hose reel jet was used to extinguish the fire by 15:40hrs.
